How to build a career in graphic design
Interested in how to become a graphic designer? While the industry is always changing and expanding, this is how i have built my career and some quick tips and tricks for you!

Education
My education in graphic design has been unique and is not the traditional college-to-career path. I became interested in graphic design my sophomore year of high school, and started learning everything I could about design. I used free programs on my computer to start experimenting with different ways of designing, and after LOTS of trial and error, I started making logos, videos, and small graphics for my church, friends and family, and even a small business in my town. My senior year of high school, I enrolled in Northwest Technical School in my hometown, and started taking two multimedia classes where I studied designing many different types of media, and explored many media platforms. My knowledge of how to design has grown immensely and I always love learning more about graphic design and how to grow my career!
Getting eyes on your designs
Getting your media out into the public eye can be a challenge, and can be approached many different ways, but in our day and age it's as simple as a couple minutes on your phone. While I am still experimenting with what works best with my career, I have found that social media platforms have been a way to reach people who I do not locally know, and a great way to stay up-to-date with recurring customers.
Word of mouth is a time and true way to reach consumers, and many times local businesses will reach out based on a personal recommendation, rather than an online platform. Staying active in my community, and always promoting local work has been a great benefit for my business.
